Team Time Trial

An oft-employed little test, wherein teams of between 2 and 6 riders leave at regular intervals of between 2 and 4 minutes. The objective is for the team to complete the prescribed distance as rapidly as possible. The distances vary.

This type of race is a test of technique which requires coordination among the cyclists, each of the riders relying on the uniform spacing of the others in front and behind. This is not a question of one rider exhausting himself by working alone. Instead, it is the team which counts! For the Quebec Games, each team is composed of two girls and two boys. The final time of the team is determined by the time of the third rider who crosses the finish line. It is therefore necessary to practice and it is also necessary that the riders know their strengths and their personal limits if they are to succeed in keeping up the rhythm of the team and complete the distance as quickly as possible.
